Chapter 24: Abandoned Again!

Big, being the son of a nobleman and supported by his father, the lord of a certain town, had ample funds.

He used this wealth to purchase a large amount of supplies for dungeon exploration for "Red Meteor." Previously, even with funds, they couldn't carry a lot due to limited carrying capacity.

However, with Ryu's limitless storage, they decided to bring an astonishing amount of supplies.

Food, healing potions, various magical tools for daily life, offensive magical tools, etc. The luxurious amount of supplies, unimaginable for ordinary people, was enough for 1-2 months in the dungeon.

Two days later, the party "Red Meteor" with Porter Ryujeen, having completed preparations, challenged the dungeon.

Ryu, employed purely as a porter, focused on carrying luggage and refrained from combat.

"You're still F-rank, huh? It's an honor for you to be with us, A-rank adventurers. Learn as much as you can," Big boasted.

Ryu simply nodded and flattered him.

Big mentioned "A-rank adventurers" but Ryu knew the truth - Big was actually B-rank (with D-rank abilities). However, he didn't correct him and simply mocked him internally.

Despite this, the other members of the A-rank party were genuinely skilled. Especially Amira and Jojo, two A-rank adventurers, easily dispatched low-level and mid-level monsters.

Chacha, the B-rank mage, also exhibited B-rank skills, close to A-rank in power.

They swiftly defeated the monsters and ascended through the dungeon's floors. They easily cleared the floor where the Wyvern Claw Dragon resided and entered the floor where the true dragon species lived, the Earth Dragon, the source of the dungeon's name.

However, the party decided to take a break.

Dungeon exploration often takes several days, requiring rest and sleep. In such cases, they choose a relatively safe location, use barrier stones to repel monsters, or, if barrier stones are unavailable, take turns keeping watch while resting.

Big's party, with ample funds, had prepared powerful barrier stones, allowing everyone to sleep simultaneously.

Then, after everyone had fallen asleep...

The Red Meteor members, excluding Ryu, quietly left the barrier.

"Are you really going to do this?" Amira questioned.

"It's just an F-rank adventurer. Don't be scared, A-rank," Big dismissed.

Big had planned to kill Ryu somewhere along the way and steal his magic bag.

Amira and the others opposed the idea, arguing that reducing the party size during exploration was dangerous. Even if they were going to kill him, they suggested doing it on the way back after clearing the dungeon.

Big, however, dismissed Ryu as an F-rank, irrelevant to their battle power. He claimed that with the magic bag, they could conquer the dungeon without Ryu. They didn't need to give Ryu a share.

"But isn't killing him too much?" Amira argued.

"You forgot? He almost became a slave, but my father saved him. He still owes a debt," Big retorted.

Amira, in the past, had failed miserably in a dungeon, incurring heavy debts that almost led to her enslavement. Big's father had paid off the debt, saving her. In return, Amira agreed to join Big's party.

Big had mixed sleeping pills into the food he gave Ryu. He also ordered Chacha to cast a sleep spell on the sleeping Ryu to enhance his sleep. He was meticulous in his planning.

He could have simply killed Ryu as an F-rank against A-rank adventurers. But he chose to abandon him, making it look more natural.

"It's common for adventurers to go missing deep in the dungeon," Big claimed with a sinister smile.

"Isn't this a bit roundabout? He's just an F-rank, we could have easily killed him and thrown him away," Jojo suggested.

"It wouldn't be fun killing him easily. I want to see him despair and scream. I can't see it, but just imagining it is enjoyable," Big smirked.

He then ordered Chacha to cast a paralysis spell on the sleeping Ryu. He then left Ryu there, placing incense that attracted monsters.

In truth, Ryu had known from the start about Big's plan to kill him and steal his bag.

He deliberately took the bait knowing Big's malicious intent.

Ryu's God's Eye allowed him to read minds to some extent. When they reunited, he knew Big's apologies were mere lip service. He knew that Big didn't care about him and even harbored resentment.

For Big, Ryu was still a slave.

Big's abuse of Ryu was revealed to his father, resulting in Ryu's release. Big blamed Ryu for his father's harsh scolding.

He had immense pleasure in torturing Ryu as his slave.

Big dreamed of building a torture chamber in his basement after becoming the lord, where he could gather people who deserved to be tortured and killed for his amusement.

He even imagined finding Ryu again and torturing him.

Their reunion, however, happened sooner than expected.

His father was still alive, and he hadn't prepared the torture chamber yet for his hobby.

He needed to become an adventurer, achieve results, and gain his father's recognition to inherit the lordship as soon as possible.

Ryu's magic bag was immensely tempting for his adventurer activities.

Killing Ryu without torturing him was a little wasteful. But acquiring such a powerful magic bag would be incredibly profitable in the future.

While pretending to sleep, Ryu listened to their conversation. He also placed his bag a little distance away, making it easier to take.

He knew about the sleeping pills, so he pretended to eat the food but stored it all in his subspace. He had connected his stomach's entrance to his subspace, so everything he ate ended up there. (This made him hungry though.)

He also connected the surface of his body to his subspace, knowing they would use magic. All the sleep and paralysis spells were cast into the subspace and didn't affect him.

He opened his eyes after confirming that Big and the others left with the bag.

However...he was abandoned in the dungeon again.

Was this becoming a trend?

Perhaps there were more adventurers who disappeared in dungeons, not because of monsters but because of humans, Ryu thought.

Ryu realized that humans were the scariest monsters, even considering his past life.
