Chapter 127: Enemy of Mankind?

Ryu asked the woman he had saved to report to the King and sent her to the royal palace via teleportation. Then, he activated his God's Eye to search the city for any surviving humans.

He expanded the detection range to cover the entire city, but unfortunately, he found no other survivors.

However, before the recent battle, he had sensed the presence of lesser vampires throughout the city. But now, there was no sign of any vampires.

The beasts that had been roaming the city seemed to have left as well.

The Lord had likely given the retreat order.

Ryu had expected to have to clear out the remaining beasts in the city after driving away the vampires, but it seemed he wouldn’t have to go through that trouble.

He teleported to the neighboring city of Trome (formerly Viscount Gitt’s territory), but the situation was pretty much the same. No humans were alive in the city, and the beasts had retreated. The city was eerily like a ghost town.

He even checked out Valed, the border city with the Akumataigoku, but it was in a similar state.

Azhi, the Second Prince, was supposed to be defending Valed, but since there was no sign of life, he had likely perished.

The Lord had said that if someone like Ryu existed, they wouldn’t attack this country because it wouldn’t be worth it, but strengthening the border defenses was an urgent necessity.

For now, Ryu decided to return to the capital.

Back in the royal palace, Ryu reported the situation about the demons to the King.

The King instructed the Prime Minister to investigate the old documents about demons in the royal palace archives. Ryu was also asked to help with the research.

What they discovered was that vampires were among the strongest species of demons.

The "Demon King" ruling the Akumataigoku might be a vampire.

If the vampires in the legends were as powerful as they were said to be, then they would be formidable foes that humans could not possibly defeat.

Even Ryu, after fighting them, had not lost, but he couldn’t think of a way to defeat them.

Ryu himself would have been defeated if he hadn’t unleashed his full power. If those vampires wanted to, they could easily wipe out humanity.

However, vampires were considered a relatively moderate and rational faction among demons. They tended to prefer coexistence with humans rather than their extermination.

If humans were their food, then destroying humans would be a problem for them as well.

In that sense, for the people of the Galyza Kingdom, the discovery that their neighboring nation was a nation of vampires—the relatively rational ones among the demons—was a blessing in disguise.

There were demons who hated humans and sought to destroy them without question.

The King of Galyza decided to inform neighboring nations about the reappearance of demons in the world, urging them to be vigilant. (They had actually never disappeared and had been existing normally as a country, but they had been hiding.)

It had been over 2,000 years since the demons had vanished, but for the past 500 years, humans had been engaging in wars, fighting and taking over each other’s territories. But now that a threat far more dangerous than humans had emerged, it was not a time for humans to be fighting each other. They needed to unite and strengthen their defenses.

A few days later, Ryu left the royal palace and arrived at Valed, the city on the western border.

Ryu, standing outside the walls of Valed, glared towards the west, where the demon nation lay.

Ryu: “I’m going…”

He muttered and activated time magic.

This was a magic that manipulated time, the same magic he had used to reverse time to heal injured people. He was using it now with all his heart and soul, more than he ever had before.

Ryu’s figure vanished.

Time Shift. Ryu wasn’t crossing the boundaries of space, but of time, returning to the past world—before the demons’ attack. (TN: I am not sure if this is a good idea.)
