The entire courtroom was in an uproar when they saw Ryu rip off the shackles.
"You! Behave yourself!"
The knights guarding the courtroom rushed forward, drawing their swords and surrounding Ryu.
Ryu: "Go..."
Knight: "Go?"
But then,
"Grrrrraaaaaawwwww!"
Suddenly, Ryu roared.
He had a skill called [Intimidation].
High-ranking magical beasts could intimidate opponents with their roars, causing them to cower and become paralyzed, hindering their movement and reducing their stats. In the case of high-ranking magical beasts, the roar itself was a powerful weapon. The roar of a dragon, the highest-ranking magical beast, the Dragon Roar, was not merely a loud sound; it was infused with magic and had a definite attack power. A weak creature that received it directly would have their heart stop.
“Grrrrraaaaaawwwwwwwrrrrraaaaaaaa!!!!”
Ryu let out a roar, filled with genuine murderous intent. It was a small Dragon Roar.
He wasn’t yet skilled at converting divine power into magic, but it was still effective enough against humans.
Everyone in the courtroom felt physical, instinctive fear and froze. The knights who were closest to Ryu’s roar all fell backwards, their legs giving way.
Ryu took a deep breath and spoke.
“I’m warning you!”
It was a loud voice that echoed throughout the entire courtroom.
“If you value your lives, stay out of my way! From this point on, I’m not holding back! Anyone who stands in my way will be killed!”
He was using an application of space magic to control the entire space in the courtroom and vibrate it to amplify his voice. He had thought it would be possible, and it worked when he tried it.
The roar he had just let out also had a powerful effect because of the vibration of space.
Gill: "G... what are you doing! Ignore the babblings of this criminal and capture him immediately!"
Ryu: "Princess Sophie was forced to wear a collar of servitude! The knights of the kingdom are here to protect the princess, aren't they?!"
Ryu had moved Sophie to his arms with teleportation. He was literally carrying the princess like a princess.
Sophie: "Ryu… put me down… I’ll say…"
Sophie, regaining consciousness, opened her eyes and pleaded with Ryu.
Sophie tried to stand on her own, but she stumbled. A figure quickly ran to her aid and supported her. It was Alice.
Sophie: "Alice…! Are you alright?!"
Ryu immediately reversed time in Sophie’s body, healing her from the stun damage.
With her strength restored, Sophie spoke to the courtroom. Of course, Ryu amplified her voice throughout the entire hall.
Sophie: “I recognize this person, Ryuujin, as my representative! The one who forced me to wear a collar of servitude is Gill, who is standing right there! Capture him!”
Gill: “The princess is confused! Don’t listen to a criminal! The princess is being deceived! Kill the criminal and save the princess!"
The nobles in the courtroom were shocked and confused.
The knights guarding the courtroom were also confused.
Normally, an organization like the military or police is extremely well-organized. Under normal circumstances, it would be natural for the knights to ignore whatever the defendant Ryu, who was a stranger, had to say and obey their commander.
Also, in terms of the chain of command, the princess did not have direct command authority over the knights.
But it was clear that the princess was a higher authority than the commander. She had acknowledged Ryu as her representative and declared Gill a criminal.
And if the story about the collar of servitude on the princess was true, it was an unforgivable crime. If they were complicit in it, they would be guilty of serious treason.
The knights in the courtroom were hesitant. The effects of Ryu’s Dragon Roar were still lingering, and they couldn’t move, their legs still wobbly.
Gill: "Damn it, this can't go on. It's time! Capture him and bring the princess back!"
Gill shouted toward the door on the side of the courtroom.
At his command, a group of knights with different equipment from the knights guarding the courtroom rushed into the arena.
They drew their swords and surrounded Ryu and the others. It was clear that they were Gill’s knights. The strong murderous intent was directed not only at Ryu but also at the princess. Gill had said to bring the princess back, but perhaps he was actually ordering them to kill her in the chaos.
Alice hid Sophie behind her, drawing her dagger.
Ryu: “Didn’t you hear my warning?”
Knight: "Hmph, what can you do by yourself?"
Usually, Ryu would adjust his responses to the level of his opponents and make them understand the difference in their strength, but today was different. He had no intention of holding back. Full power, no limits.
So, the battle wouldn’t even happen. In the next moment, Gill’s knights would be gone from this world, without being able to do anything.
Ryu only glanced at the knights. They were all cut in half from top to bottom and fell to the floor. Ryu had cut the knights in half with dimensional disruption.
He could have stopped their blood flow to the neck and caused them to lose consciousness. But that would have required him to use his Divine Eye to grasp the space around everyone’s necks, and it would have taken time.
This time, he chose the shortest method, without any extra effort. He had simply sliced through the space in the area where the knights were.
Ryu had designated a space in the shape of a donut, large enough to encompass the dozens of knights surrounding them. Then, he sliced that space in half, top and bottom. Anything within the designated area would be divided accordingly. The taller knights were cut from the chest, the shorter ones from the head. There was no escaping death.
Next, Gill...
Ryu looked up at the tiered seating area, but Gill was already gone from the courtroom.
The bad guys always run away quickly.
But he couldn’t escape from Ryu, who had teleportation and Divine Eye. Ryu was about to pursue him.
But Sophie stopped him.
Sophie: “Wait, Ryu. Alice! Where are Marie and Betty? Are they safe?”
Alice: "I apologize, Marie and Betty are still being held captive. I was trying to find an opportunity to rescue them, but the security is so tight that I couldn't sneak in by myself..."
Ryu: "...I understand!"
Sophie had stopped him, meaning that Marie and the others were in imminent danger.
Gill was nothing to Ryu if he got serious. He could deal with him later, so he decided to rescue Marie and the others first.
First, Ryu healed Princess Sophie.
He had healed her earlier, but that had only reversed the damage from the electric shock stun the knights had used to silence her.
But Sophie was still weak. It seemed that she had been struggling against the collar of servitude, which had caused her to be tormented by the collar and accumulate damage.
Ryu reversed time significantly, healing Sophie's body to its state before she was forced to wear the collar.
Ryu: “Alice! Where are Marie and Betty?”
Alice: “The Royal Prison, but I don’t know the exact location inside.”
Ryu read the location of the Royal Prison from Alice’s mind, teleported there, and searched the building with his Divine Eye.
Marie and Betty were being held in a basement deep within the prison.
It would have been difficult for Alice to sneak deep into the prison alone, but it was no problem for Ryu, who could come and go as he pleased.
Ryu teleported himself, Sophie, and Alice to that location.
Sophie: “Marie! Betty!”
In the dim light, Marie and Betty were chained to the walls, their hands and feet shackled. Of course, the shackles were magical ones that suppressed magic.
Alice illuminated the room with a light spell, revealing that Marie and Betty were battered, as if they had been tortured.
Marie: “… Th… that voice… Sophie…?”
Betty: "…"
