Chapter 171: Party Disbands - Ryū Sets Out

After being rescued from the orcs, Ana and Leonora realized the drawbacks of mana-based physical enhancement.

Or rather, it was more a matter of preference and direction...

They could potentially become strong enough to defeat Badge and the others if they continued to enhance their physical abilities. But they realized that this would mean wasting their talents in magic and healing.

Most people who aspire to be adventurers in this world possess a class. It's a kind of talent or vocational aptitude, and it affects their abilities. Those with a swordsman class get bonuses to their strength, reaction speed, and swordsmanship. Leonora and Ana, with their mage and healer classes, get bonuses to their magic and healing abilities.

It was wasteful to abandon their innate talents and pursue a different profession.

Since they had more mana than most people, pursuing the warrior class, which didn't utilize their mana and didn't give them any bonuses, would be pointless unless they had a strong reason.

In the end, Ana and Leonora decided to focus on their original classes, aiming to become top-tier magic users and healers.

Then, Badge and Sapp, with whom Ana and Leonora had become close, invited them to join their party.

(With the dungeon normalized, the demand for magic users and healers had increased in Bymark. Badge and Sapp, who had been skeptical of magic users due to their dissatisfaction with the guild's policy change, had reconsidered after witnessing Leonora's attack magic.)

It turned out that Badge and Sapp had feelings for Ana and Leonora and had been flirting with them.

They stopped their teasing and confessed their feelings directly. Leonora and Anastasia, who had been saved by them, weren't entirely opposed to their affections (their favorability had also increased after being rescued).

But joining Forest Wind meant disbanding their party with Ryu. (While it wasn't impossible to be in multiple parties, it would be somewhat awkward.)

"We're really sorry."

"It's fine. I don't mind at all."

Ana and Leonora were about to refuse, since they had just formed a party with Ryu, but it was actually Ryu who had encouraged them to join Forest Wind.

Badge and Sapp had invited Ryu as well, but he had refused. He planned to leave town.

Ana and Leonora had chosen the difficult Bymark to become adventurers, so they probably weren't going to leave immediately.

And Ryu understood their feelings; their desire to repay those who had saved their lives and their attraction to Badge and Sapp.

Ryu, who was essentially a solo adventurer, didn't care about being in a party. It had been a trial period anyway, and that's why he encouraged Ana and Leonora to join Forest Wind.

While Leonora was undergoing her intense training, Ryu was summoned to the guildmaster's office by a receptionist, saying that he had a request.

Lord Ordelian was there. Ryu was surprised to see him still in Bymark. He thought he had already returned to Bayjim, the capital of Sindral Territory, but that wasn't the case.

Lord Ordelian's Sindral Territory had several cities (fortified cities), and the Sindral family naturally owned mansions in all of them. Since he was already in Bymark, Ordelian decided to stay for a while to deal with some matters.

Ordelian, of course, was the one who had issued the request, and it was a job outside of Bymark.

Ryu had postponed his answer, saying he needed time to consider since he had just formed a party, but with the party disbanded, he decided to accept this request.

The lord's request was to go to Rondaria, a city famous for its ghost dungeon.

...

Rondaria was located in Magariel Territory, next to Sindral Territory.

It was famous for a dungeon known as the Undead King's Castle, but it was an unpopular, rather bleak city, despite its proximity to the dungeon.

Normally, a city near a dungeon would be bustling with adventurers seeking fortune from dungeon materials and merchants looking to profit from them...

But Rondaria was not. Because Undead King's Castle was primarily inhabited by undead.

Undead were extremely disliked monsters in this world. Monsters are hunted for materials, but with undead, the risk is high, and the materials are usually not worth much. More importantly, undead are horrifying, frightening humans.

There were rumors of ghosts appearing all over Rondaria, creating a gloomy atmosphere.

The Magariel family, a noble family residing in Rondaria, ruled Magariel Territory. There were several other cities in their territory, but they chose the gloomy Rondaria. The current head of the Magariel family is Emilia.

Lord Ordelian's request was for Ryu to "examine" Emilia. It seemed he was close friends with the previous head of the Magariel family and had always been worried about her daughter.

According to Ordelian, Emilia was under a curse.

After hearing that Ryu had cured the petrification caused by the Catochrists' gas, which was thought to be a type of curse, Ordelian wondered if he could cure Emilia's curse as well.
