A few days after leaving Yulma and the others behind in the dungeon, Ryu was about to eat at a restaurant in town when he noticed poison in his meal.
It seemed they realized they couldn't defeat him in a direct confrontation or even by ambushing him, and decided to resort to poisoning as a last resort.
There are many cases of even the strongest warriors being hated by the families of those they killed, and ultimately ending up poisoned.
However, Ryu possesses a precognitive ability that allows him to sense future danger. He can also detect poison. This is part of Ryu's "God's Eye" skill, which is always active passively.
There's a skill called "Demon's Eye" that allows you to analyze various things with great precision, but "God's Eye" is an advanced version of it. This skill uses "divine power" instead of mana, and those who only know about mana would never even know of its existence.
However, Ryu, aware of this, had been granted resistance and healing abilities against all kinds of poison. But that doesn't mean he wants to eat poison willingly.
Ryu activated his God's Eye at full power. When fully activated, Ryu's eyes turn gold. In this state, he can see into the hearts of those around him.
He quickly identified the person who poisoned him and their accomplice. It was indeed the family of Yulma and the others. While they deserved to be killed, it was still understandable for their family to harbor resentment. They were the ones who attacked Ryu, and got what they deserved, so their hatred was unjustified.
Ryu had no ill will towards the family, but leaving alive someone who would resort to assassination could lead to future problems. He might be fine, but there was a chance his friends could be affected.
Ryu placed a silver coin on the table and left silently. He could hear a commotion coming from the back of the store. It seemed one of the chefs in the kitchen had collapsed. But Ryu didn't pay any attention and left the store.
The dish Ryu had been served was empty. He had teleported the food directly into the stomachs of the waiter who poisoned him and the family member who ordered it.
The waiter seemed to have been pressured into doing it for money, so Ryu only transferred a small amount of the poisoned food. He would suffer, but survive.
Maybe the experience of suffering from the poison would become a trauma and he wouldn't be able to continue as a chef... But if he overcomes it, he might be able to return to his work.
He prayed that this would teach him a lesson and he wouldn't do something like that again. But if he found them again, he wouldn't show any mercy. A chef who serves poisoned food to their customers shouldn't exist.
Thinking calmly, even if that chef returned to the restaurant, he wouldn't be able to eat anything he prepared. If he survives, he might actually go and have a "conversation" with him later.
However, Ryu never saw him again at that restaurant. It seemed he survived, but rumors had it that he quit his job and returned to his hometown.
