Chapter 129: Ryu Returns from Time Travel

Ryu searched the royal palace's library for any hints regarding the Vampire's weaknesses. But ultimately, he found nothing.

The Vampires of this world were quite different from the ones on Earth, who had so many weaknesses. It was because of his knowledge from his past life on Earth that he had even considered searching for weaknesses...

Ryu himself was quite a cheat, almost invincible, but the Vampires in this world were no slouches either. He had actually tried several things, and it seemed their claim of immortality wasn't entirely false.

Actually, there was one possible method that could have worked against the Vampire Lord... The Lord hadn't been able to cope with Ryu's time-stopping ability. So, if he were to teleport the Lord to a separate dimension where time had stopped, he might be able to imprison him there.

Simply teleporting (storing) him in a separate dimension wouldn't work if the target possessed the ability to cross dimensions. But what if the time flow in that separate dimension were to stop? Their thoughts would also stop, so they wouldn't try to escape. (Assuming they couldn't move within a time-stopped space.)

However, it wouldn't actually kill them, so it wouldn't be a fundamental solution. Even if it worked, he would have to seal him there forever. As long as Ryu lived - as long as his time-space magic was effective - he could keep him sealed.

So why hadn't Ryu done it? Simply because he hadn't thought of it at that time. He later realized this and thought, "Darn it!"

But upon careful consideration, Ryu realized that it would have been meaningless.

Even if he could seal the Lord, it wouldn't have solved anything in this particular case. On the contrary, if there were no one capable of deterring the Demons, it was unknown how they would act. Since he had been able to make the Lord retreat, this was definitely the better option.

While examining the records, Ryu realized that among the Demons, Vampires were an intelligent and not particularly warlike species.

This was evident during their previous encounter as well. He had predicted that the Vampires would retreat rationally if he showed them his power.

As expected, the Demons retreated. This meant that the future where Mimul's people were wiped out had been averted.

Sister Anne and the children, Catherine and Leila, the people of the city...

It was unclear what kind of life they would lead. Naturally, everyone would die eventually. But at this point, death had been avoided.

...In this world, at least.

After confirming that the Demons had retreated, Ryu muttered.

"It's time to go back..."

Ryu activated the magic to travel through time again, returning to his original world.

His original world was the one where Mimul was wiped out by the Demons.

Actually, time travel magic doesn't exist. While it might be possible to rewind certain events partially, reversing or exceeding the entire world's time flow is impossible.

Traveling back to the past is nothing more than branching off to a different parallel world with a different future from a certain point.

However, there was already a Ryujeen in the branched world. The future after the branch was that of this world's Ryujeen.

Two Ryujeens could not exist in the same world. Even if he changed the past, he wouldn't be allowed to live in the future of the world he had altered.

For now, it was very close since it had just branched off. But as time passed, the two worlds would head towards different futures. The two worlds would drift further and further apart as time passed. Once he returned to his original world, Ryu would eventually be unable to come to this world.

Actually, there seemed to be an infinite number of parallel worlds. There were "Gods" who created each world, managing them.

Ryu had also created a new world this time. But this wasn't due to his own power; he had merely borrowed the ability from a God. He wasn't going to become a God himself.

If so, it meant that a world without a managing God had been born. However, since he had only borrowed the power of the God who had created this world to create the branch, the branched world would also fall under the jurisdiction of the God who managed the original world.

He had actually asked about going back in time before his reincarnation, and he had received an explanation. But it was too complicated, and he didn't understand it well in the end.

It seemed that it was simply not something that a human, let alone a God, could comprehend.

All he knew was that he would have to live in the world where Mimul's people had perished.

Even though he had created a world with a different future, he couldn't change the future of his own world. He knew that. He knew that doing so would be a mere consolation, but he couldn't help but do it.

In this world where Ryujeen lived, they no longer existed.

It was strange to think that in another, very similar world, Mimul's people were still alive. But he had just been there.

However, death isn't the end; it's merely a journey to a new world.

Those who had died in this world would also be reborn in another world and continue living. Ryu understood this because he had experienced reincarnation himself and retained memories of his past life. Death is not the end.

It was inevitable to feel a little sad thinking that he would never see them again in this world.

Perhaps someday, after Ryu died, he would be reborn in another world and encounter the people he had been connected with in his past life. Maybe.

Thinking about it, Ryu headed back to the capital.
