Chapter 12: The Father and The Son

"They're sucking mana from the dead hunter to grow the tree?"

"I think so, but the berries won't grow in this state. Let's keep an eye on it."

"Did you come here knowing that this tree grows in this dungeon?"

"No."

"But you must have expected something similar to happen."

"I don't know?"

"Whew, okay. I hope it bears fruit anyway. It will be revolutionary. It's only natural that it will be priceless."

"Well, wouldn't there be things to take care of before that?"

"I was thinking, why don't we get more people on our side?"

"Who would want to be on our side in this situation."

"The students you trained. You trained many students, and they're all practically indebted to you.  Wouldn't they help you when you're in trouble?"

"Don't get your hopes up."

I've already made up my mind. If they were going to be on my side, they would have done it already. I even have S-rank hunters who graduated. They have enough influence, but they haven't contacted me.

'Well, that's how it is.'

It was a pointless conversation since I had already decided to reclaim my experience.

"You must be upset."

"Well, let's drop this topic. Anyway, it's about time for a reaction."

"What do you mean?"

"There will be people who will want to contact me as soon as possible.  I want to squeeze something out of them."

"Can't you speak more clearly?"

"You'll find out soon, what's the matter."

. . .

"There isn't any other news. It seems pointless to have him write a suicide note."

Kim Somi said, still looking at her phone.

"Why are you looking at that constantly?  They don't want to end things like this. They're probably trying to figure out how to tie us together, Somi and me."

"Right... Do you think so?"

Kim Somi sighed. She was an S-rank hunter, one of the beings who ruled South Korea. She's now recovered from her injuries, so there's nothing she can't handle, but she's still clinging to me, wanting to act with me. It seems that she thinks this situation is difficult to handle, even for her.  She had a long career as a hunter to picture the situation more clearly.

"You don't know until you experience it. Let's not worry about it beforehand."

"Yes..."

Afternoon arrived.

[Experience has been reclaimed.]

Today's experience has been reclaimed. I could gain a new combat class, and I could save it for now and use it to revive the abandoned dungeon. However, I decided to use this experience to gain the 'Designer' class.

After making equipment and weapons, I realized that simply having manufacturing skills had limits.  Being an S-rank would get me a lot of money, but it would be even more valuable if it included a cool design and innovative technology. Since I had decided to make money anyway, I decided to invest here.

'I don't need combat skills for now anyway.'

I had gained the S-rank Sword Master ability and equipped an S-rank skill. It was the reason why I didn't need another combat class right now.

Besides, the Designer ability wasn't just for making equipment and weapons.  Knowing that the abandoned dungeons around me had extraordinary potential, I needed an idea to use it.  There's no doubt that the 'Designer' ability was the most helpful for that.

You have acquired the S-rank 'Designer' class.

'I hope it comes soon.'

I ordered a large amount of materials yesterday. Once it arrives, making it won't be a problem. Even though my combat class was only Sword Master, this time I was going to try making different things.  Well, maybe I can acquire the 'Manufacturer' class later and try developing potions and items. If I can get the 'Mana Berry,' it would be more valuable to sell it in the form of a product rather than just selling it as is.

"Huh?"

Kim Somi suddenly straightened up like a meerkat.  I could sense her ears pricking up, so I stopped thinking and focused on the happenings outside.

"Someone's coming."

"Could it be an assassin?"

"An assassin wouldn't come in broad daylight, driving a car.  Park Seokcheol is dead, so he won't come using such a classic method for now."

"Then who could it be?"

"Who else would it be? The bastard who only thinks about saving himself, even though his son is dead."

"Bastard?"

Kim Somi furrowed her brow, looking confused, then exclaimed, "Ah!"

"You mean Kim Byungsu?"

"That's his name, Kim Byungsu."

"He's famous for openly throwing money around and making connections.  Money breeds money and connections breed connections, that's the way the world works. He made offers to me through various channels, but I turned them all down. His reputation was pretty bad.  I didn't like it unless you're the kind of person who doesn't care about things like that."

"I understand."

I got up. It was time to greet the guest. Kim Somi followed me outside.

. . .

Before long, several black sedans arrived. He wouldn't have come alone, and he must have come prepared, at least to protect himself.

The cars stopped, kicking up dust, in front of the house. The driver's door swung open first, and the driver ran over and opened the back door. A middle-aged man in sunglasses, with a stern expression, got out of the back seat.

The two cars behind remained motionless. It wasn't hard to guess that there were skilled hunters inside.

The middle-aged man took off his sunglasses and chuckled, "Hehehe."

"Nice to meet you. I'm Kim Byungsu."

"I know. The pervert Kim Hogun's father."

"What?"

He couldn't hide his displeasure at my response.  It had only been a day since his son died. He looked like nothing had happened. This guy must have his informants, so he would know that his son didn't commit suicide. He would also know that he, as his son's father, wouldn't feel guilty and wouldn't commit suicide because of it.  In short, a bastard.

"I'm truly sorry about that.  A father is responsible for his child's actions. I was too busy and didn't take care of my son's affairs well enough."

"Responsibility? Really?"

I reached into my inventory and pulled out my sword. The two cars that had been standing still suddenly opened their doors, and hunters poured out.
