I headed towards the house my father had prepared for me.
“Wow, what a rundown shack.”
I said this as I approached the house.
It looked like it could collapse at any moment. I used the key to open the door and saw, as expected, that it was covered in dust. It was no place to live.
Well, I guess it was better than having no house.
This house was prepared by my father, as a place for him to take care of me until I turned fifteen.
Also, I was given a small amount of money to help me make ends meet until I was fifteen.
He probably wants me to find a job by then.
I had also secretly taken the spellbook “Goetia” needed for summoning demons, as well as the paper with the magical circle for summoning demons.
“Okay, let’s summon the 55th in rank, Orobas!”
I declared this as soon as I arrived home.
Orobas was the demon Furcas recommended earlier.
“Hmm, there’s something you need to do before that.”
Furcas said this when I was getting ready.
What do I have to do?
“In your current state, summoning two demons at once is difficult. Therefore, you can’t summon a new demon until you dismiss me with the Dismissal Spell.”
“I see…”
I nodded.
But, it was a bit sad to say goodbye, since I was finally getting along with Furcas.
“Don’t worry, if you have any more questions, just summon me.”
He said this, sensing my thoughts.
It’s true, I can just summon him whenever I want to see him again.
“Then, I’ll chant the Dismissal Spell.”
I said this, opening the spellbook.
“--Thou, the 50th in rank, Furcas. Thou hast answered my request diligently, therefore I permit thee to depart to an appropriate place. Thou shalt continue to prepare thyself to return immediately should I summon and call upon thee again by my magical rite. I command thee to depart in peace and quiet.”
As I finished reciting the spell, just like in the spellbook, Furcas began to fade away.
“One more thing I forgot to mention, I sleep soundly between 8 pm and 4 am, so please summon me outside of those hours.”
He left those words behind before disappearing.
Come to think of it, I remember Furcas sleeping soundly when I summoned him yesterday.
I think I summoned him at 9 pm, after dinner.
I see, so he was asleep at that time.
But, going to sleep at 8 pm and waking up at 4 am, that’s no different from a regular old man.
“Alright, let’s summon the next demon.”
I said this, switching gears.
“Uh, the 55th in rank, Orobas, right?”
I flipped through the spellbook until I reached Orobas’ page.
I should be able to use the same magical circle as yesterday, when I summoned Furcas.
Alright, time for the summoning spell.
“--I command thee in the name of Norman. Appear like a whirlwind, and show your form within the magical circle. Come here from anywhere in the world, and answer all my questions with reason. And appear in a peaceful form, without delay, and make my wish a reality. I summon thee. In the name by which all things obey, the name at which the four great spirits all overturn, and the wind trembles, the sea flees, fire is extinguished, and the earth is shaken, and all spirits of heaven and earth and hell tremble, I command thee. Come forth -- the 55th in rank, Orobas!!”
The content of the spell was mostly the same, I only had to change the last part.
The magical circle shone.
“Are you my master?”
I felt that the voice was a bit too high-pitched for a man.
The light disappeared, and I opened my eyes. I was dumbfounded by what I saw.
Standing there was a centaur, with a horse’s upper body and a human’s lower body.
