Chapter 30: After the Duel

The day after my victory over Legal in the duel.

My reputation at school has changed drastically.

It didn't necessarily change for the better, though.

"Did he use some kind of dirty trick?"

Some students asked this, while others said:

"Didn't he hide the fact that he could use magic all this time?"

Some students claimed that Legal was actually weak after seeing him unable to use annihilation magic, and others said that I was a weakling who couldn't use Eigenmagic because I hadn't used it.

Overall, it seems I went from being the object of ridicule to being seen as a creepy student.

"Norman, it seems you can now use magic."

Mr. Rudon said this in a sharp tone during class.

"Uh, yeah..."

It seems Mr. Rudon has heard about my victory in the duel.

"If so, why don't you try the wind magic I just explained here?"

I haven't learned wind magic yet.

I think that in my heart, but I answer, "Yes."

"Wind, rise, Levantar Viento."

I chant while looking at the magic circle written on paper.

As expected, the magic didn't activate.

"It seems you can't do it."

"I haven't learned wind magic yet."

"Well, you take longer to learn than other people. Work hard."

Usually, the other students would tease me at this point, but not today.

Even that alone made me think it was worth dueling.

"Well, I'm going to summon a new demon to learn wind magic today."

I declare this to Orobos and Crocelle after returning home.

"So, I wanted to ask you two, do you know any demons who would be perfect for learning wind magic?"

"Master! I am so sorry! I can't help!"

Orobos says this and prostrates himself.

Yeah, I had a feeling that Orobos wouldn't be useful for this kind of thing.

"Crocelle... ?"

"Hmm, a-ah, I think I have one in mind!"

Crocelle thinks for a moment and then says this.

It seems she has someone in mind. That's good.

If she hadn't, I would have had to ask Mr. Forkas, but if I summoned him at this time, he would probably be sleeping.

"So, what's the demon's name?"

"Uh, it's ranked 41st, Focalor..."

Crocelle seems like she wants to say something and keeps moving her lips.

"Uh, Crocelle, if you want to say something, tell me properly."

"Well, I really dislike her..."

Crocelle says this, looking down.

"If that's the case, then you should leave for now."

"No, no! I don't want to be separated from Lord Norman!"

"Ee..."

Crocelle dislikes leaving as much as Orobos...

"Anyway, I don't know if I can summon three demons at the same time..."

So, I want one of them to leave for now.

I look at the two of them...

"Uh, Orobos..."

"Master! I don't want to leave!"

Well, of course Orobos would say that.

"That's not fair! You're always getting away with it! Why does Orobos hate leaving so much?"

I don't really know why Orobos hates leaving.

"Orobos, why don't you want to leave?"

I suddenly feel like asking him.

"Because, I hate going back to the Demon Realm!"

The Demon Realm? Hmmm, what is the Demon Realm?

"The Demon Realm is where we demons normally live."

Crocelle explains this, sensing that I didn't understand the term Demon Realm.

Oh, the Demon Realm.

What kind of place is it?

I can somehow sense that it's not a very comfortable place.

"So, Orobos, why do you hate going back to the Demon Realm?"

"It's because I'm confined in the Demon Realm..."

Confined, so he's imprisoned in a jail or something.

"So, I don't want to go back to the Demon Realm!"

Orobos claims.

I guess there's no reason not to sympathize if that's the case.

"By the way, what did you do that got you confined?"

"It's because I disobeyed my superiors. However, my only master is you, Master! So, it's inevitable for me to disobey my superiors!"

Orobos makes some incomprehensible claim.

Well, I guess demons are more complicated than I imagined.

"By the way, Crocelle, why don't you want to leave?"

"W-Well, it's because...because I want to be with Lord Norman..."

Crocelle claims, her face turning red.

I had a faint idea that Crocelle had feelings for me.

But, if that's the case, I don't think it would be so bad if she went back to the Demon Realm for a little while.

"Crocelle, I'll summon you again after I learn wind magic, so would it be impossible to have you leave for now?"

"...If Lord Norman says so, then I have no choice. But, please, please summon me back soon!"

After we settled on this, I had Crocelle leave for now.

"Alright, then, I'll summon Focalor."

I wonder what kind of demon will be summoned. I'm excited.
