The handmaiden scurried away.

After watching her go for a moment, I hurry to the side of the girl who is still sleeping.

And until someone else arrives, I spend the time quietly gazing at her sleeping face.

"Welcome back, King. It was a long journey, wasn't it?"
"Your Majesty, we're relieved to see you are safe."
Taking the arrival of people as her cue, Koai gets off the cart.
She had only told the large man, Akudo, to come here, but Akudo had brought the old man, Sodi, with him.

"For such a long journey, you look pretty energetic. Still haven't had enough of a run?"
Akudo's attention was on the horse tethered to the front of the cart.

"Akudo, we're not finished reviewing the documents yet. Don't you forget that we have to go back once we've finished His Majesty's errand, you hear?"
"Ngh..."
The large man is urged to get back to his work, though I don't know the details of their situation.

"My apologies, Your Majesty. The two of us are reading through human texts today, but this one here keeps trying to run off the moment he sees an opening..."
Sodi's expression is bitter, yet his tone sounds amused.

"I came along to keep an eye on him as well."
"Well, it's just... I mean, none of these books describe the humans I know."
"That's true for us as well, which is why we need to tailor our approa—... whoops, let's get our hands moving first."

The three of us decided to divide the work and sort the cargo.

"Why is it in such a mess...? Hey, isn't this Marg Raf?"
"I want you to cook a meal for two with that. You can have the rest."
