Recap of the last chapter
Koai rode alone on horseback toward the fortress city of Tafkau, where humans gathered. Upon arriving at a place that seemed to be Tafkau, Koai repelled an attack by humans...
In the midst of this, the 'Servants of God,' having heard the commotion, rushed to the scene and confronted Koai.
"Lucia"...
Koai had heard that name before, but she couldn't comprehend it.
However, hearing the name allowed her to realize... that the black-haired woman approaching on horseback was the same one she had encountered in Solca Village the other day.
"I see... So you're going to pretend you don't know me, after all."
"Did something happen?"
"Yeah, it's fine. I've already made up my mind."
In response to the man who spoke in a somewhat deflated tone, the woman answered while touching her own short, black bangs.
All the while, their horses continued to advance, and before long, the distance to Koai had closed considerably.
"I was wondering if I could trust that woman, but more than that... I want to go home with you, too."
The woman's gaze was sharp enough to pierce, yet it wavered as it fell to her feet.
"And then, when we get back, someday... from my room, together..."
"Whoa, weren't you the one who said you shouldn't say that in front of people?"
"Ah... Sh-shut up."
The two continued their banter without so much as a glance at the humans lying strewn about.
It wasn't that they were completely defenseless, but their words and actions, as if they weren't looking at Koai at all and were just talking to each other, filled Koai with displeasure.
