Amidst an unsettled, gloomy feeling... Koai looked around.
There were no people in sight, nor could she sense any presence imbued with magic. However, on the roof of a vacant house, beside the scar from the 'Light Wave'... a single bird was perched there again today.
Koai observed the bird. Just like the small bird from the other day, it was almost completely still, staring in her direction.
The bird's behavior—unfazed by the clamor of the people or the severe destruction of the buildings, not even twitching, just staring at her—was unnatural and unpleasant.
Thinking she should at least shoo it away, Koai was about to dig her nail into the scar on her finger. But just as pain shot through her finger, the bird suddenly descended to the ground.

As she continued to watch, the bird repeated this action several times. Feeling suspicious, Koai focused on a cluster of the holes. At first, they looked like a shape... no, she realized they were letters, oriented in different directions.
