Painful groans and dull cries dominated the grasslands.
"Ugh, uuhh..."
"It hurts, it hurts so much..."
"Gah, kuhaah... ugh, aahh..."
Though they raised their voices in agony, it conversely meant that the damage they'd suffered from the wind stones was minor. Whether or not that was fortunate for them was another matter entirely.
...Have I still not quite grasped the proper timing for battle? Or perhaps they are more resilient than I thought.
Koai thought this as she surveyed the dead and wounded scattered around her.
She also recognized that not all the enemy soldiers were lying here defeated. At the very least, the group that had first fired arrows from the front was far from the center of the gale—from Koai—and likely hadn't been annihilated. Moreover, there were those who had escaped the calamity by moving toward the center of the gale—toward Koai.
If there were any strong ones, they were likely among those who had escaped my magic... If they were to return, I could enjoy myself again.
Just as Koai was hoping for this, the sound of a few hoofbeats reached her ears, only to be immediately drowned out.
"Oww, that hurts... I've never heard of a storm hitting this area."
"...A storm? Were you nearby, perhaps?"
Koai turned toward the voice. It was, of course, the voice of the large man, Akudo.
"Hm? Oh, yeah... I figured I should be close enough to rush over if anything happened."
"I see. So you got caught up in it."
"So it was the King's magic. No wonder."
Akudo, who had apparently been waiting not too far away, glanced at his own arm with a look of understanding.
"Stones came flying everywhere, stabbing into me. It hurt like hell... A weaker person would have died."
