Koai is sleeping.
As always, she is sleeping.
On the bed in the bedroom, decorated with a painting of Snow and herself.
Koai was awakened by a gentle knock on the door.
It was early morning... perhaps an hour or so after sunrise. The light streaming in from outside stung her eyes a little.
"Your Majesty... are you awake?"
From the old man's gentle tone and the soft knocking... Koai sensed it wasn't anything particularly urgent.
Lately, she felt... she had become able to discern such things.
"...I'm awake. What is it?"
Koai replied, feeling the dryness in her throat.
"Your Majesty, Akudo has brought back a souvenir from the Emile territory. Would you care to see it?"
"A souvenir? ...Can't you bring it here?"
If possible, she didn't want to leave her room just yet.
It wasn't so much because she had just woken up, but rather... because of a faint feeling of loneliness.
"It is a bit too bulky to bring in here, so if you would be so kind, please come to the main hall."
Her request was easily deflected.
However, Koai was not in the mood to refuse Sodi's invitation either.
"...Alright, I'll go."
For a moment, Koai gazed at the smile of the girl in the painting on the wall... burning the image into her mind before leaving the bedroom.
"It looks like a red turnip, but it's sweet and delicious for what it is. The usual merchant gave me a barrel as a souvenir... but I wanted more, so I bought extra at the market. The humans call it 'Marg Raf,' apparently."
