"Ah, a guide? You won't need one from here."
Perhaps thanks to Coai's interjection, the conversation returned to the main topic.
"Huh? So casual!?"
"From here on, whether the road curves or climbs, just follow the leveled path and it's a single road. There are no forks, so you shouldn't get lost. However, if you're going on foot from now... the sun might set by the time you reach the bridge."
The old man stared intently at Coai and Snow on their horse. It seemed to have given him some cause for concern.
"But if you have a horse, as long as you don't make any particular detours, you should be able to cross the bridge before dusk."
"Is it pretty far? You say that like it's dangerous at night."
"That's right. If the sun is about to set, it's best to spend the night somewhere and cross the bridge the next day when it's light... Oh, right, there are a few huts along the way that I built. I've left them unlocked so travelers can use them freely."
It felt a little strange for him to add that it wouldn't be a problem with a horse, only to then mention the lodging huts... but considering the flow and length of the conversation up to that point, Coai figured it was just one of those things and let it go.
"It might be a little cold in the mornings and evenings now, but I've left firewood so you can warm yourselves. And it should be more comfortable than in the summer."
