Koai asked on a whim.
"Do you have anything made with the same design as these?"
"...It would be a different item, I believe... but if that's acceptable, I'll go look for one in stock."
The woman seemed to have read something into Koai's question, and for some reason... her smile looked strangely overdone, with a slightly unnatural intensity.
"Alright."
Koai didn't understand the reason for the smile, but if the woman said she would go look for the item she wanted, there was no reason to refuse.
"It may take a little while, so please, have a seat here and wait."
As she spoke, the well-dressed woman pulled a chair out from behind something.
The woman took the large jeweled pendant she had shown earlier and disappeared into the back of the shop... leaving Koai alone in the storefront.
Shouldn't she leave a guard? Koai wondered, but for the time being, she sat down on the chair that had been provided.
And so, with time on her hands, she looked around. Within sight, in the areas she could reach, there didn't seem to be anything of great value.
Koai concluded that there were likely no items in this room worth worrying about being stolen.
In reality, this lack of caution stemmed not only from the value of the items on display, but also from the small concern regarding the financial standing of the patrons who openly frequented the establishment.
However, it would likely be difficult for Koai to grasp such intricate details of a human city's affairs.
