The silence and loneliness that seemed to dominate the inside of the forest... if she was next to me, I didn't mind it at all.
As long as I have her, I...
Coai guided the horse through the forest, nestled close to Snow.
She firmly held the sleeping girl's right arm, as if supporting her, vowing never to let go.
Or perhaps, as if clinging to her, begging her never to leave.
Was it because they were too excited at the start, or because the load had increased? The horse's speed had dropped so much that their initial momentum felt like a dream or an illusion.
But even that didn't bother her now that the girl was by her side. In fact, it might even be a pleasure... to be rocked by the carriage for a long time.
As she slowly urged the horse on, conscious of the other girl's warmth... around evening, she heard her voice.
"Ngh... King-sama?"
"You're awake."
Forgetting she was even steering the horse, Coai turned her face toward her.
"Whoa, you're so close, hehe... wait, huh? Do the trees feel different from usual?"
Close, she was certainly close.
But that was unavoidable since their arms were linked... That said, it didn't seem like the other girl disliked it either.
"It's like, that northern country kind of vibe?"
"Is it that different? You can tell?"
Hearing her words, Coai glanced at the trees before returning her gaze forward to check their path.
I see, so this was the first time she'd entered a forest other than the Great Forest.
...Even so, she... she's sensitive enough to notice things I don't.
