Someone who knew me from long ago... not just from when I was called the 'Demon Lord', but from even before that.
Thinking about it, it felt like a waste to fight without exchanging a single word.
We hadn't shared joys and sorrows over a long period.
If you count the number of times we've met, it's only been five. And each time, we just tried to kill each other.
And yet, somewhere in my heart, I felt a sense of nostalgia...
"You're always so damn aloof."
Contrary to his rough tone, his expression showed no signs of anger.
I wonder if the 'King of Magical Beasts' was feeling something similar to what I, Coai, was feeling.
"Well, whatever... Anyway, let's get this started."
The King's gaze sharpened with a glint.
At the same time, something suggesting immense power began to emanate from his claws.
Their appearance hadn't changed, but they now gave off an impression of being somehow sharper.
"Hraah!"
The King stomped forward powerfully and leaped right in front of Coai!
The silver beast swung its right arm, slamming it towards Coai as its body flowed sideways, rushing past her!
Minimal contact. Is he testing the waters first?
Coai immediately looked to where the King was headed and caught sight of him.
"Wind, be my blade, 'Air Slash'!"
Coai unhesitatingly envisioned the wind and chanted... but the King had already leaped back.
He's fast, as expected. Should I try for another one...?!
By the time Coai tried to follow up and tracked the King's position, he had already leaped back again, creating a large distance between them.
