Chapter 23: Don’t Tell Daddy

Qin Shu’s heart ached beyond words. She held the little girl’s soft body tightly, breathing in her sweet milky scent, her heart melting like water.

"How could I ever abandon you? Grandma loves Luoluo more than anything in the world," Qin Shu said with heartfelt tenderness, wishing she could give the little girl everything wonderful under the sun.

Even if Luoluo weren’t her biological granddaughter, Qin Shu would never abandon her. She had already decided to adopt the little girl, and nothing would change her mind.

Just thinking about the little girl’s past days of hunger and cold made Qin Shu’s heart twist with pain. She couldn’t imagine how such a small child had endured it!

"Grandma promises she’ll never abandon Luoluo. Luoluo is our whole family’s precious little darling," Qin Shu vowed solemnly.

Hearing this, the little girl finally stopped crying and smiled. She stuck out her pinky finger for a promise. "Grandma said it! Liar becomes a puppy!"

"Alright, alright." Qin Shu practically indulged her every wish, the affection in her eyes overflowing.

Assured by her grandmother’s promise, the little girl felt completely satisfied, her earlier unhappiness vanishing as quickly as it had come. Her moods shifted like the wind.

After this little interlude, Qin Shu remembered her original plan and continued taking the little girl upstairs to see her room.

"Come in and see, sweetheart! Do you like it?" Qin Shu pushed open the door with both hands, leading Su Luo inside with a beaming smile.

Filled with curiosity, the little girl stepped in. The sight before her instantly took her breath away, and she couldn't help but gasp, "Wow!"

"Do you like it?" Qin Shu asked proudly, as if presenting a treasure.

She had decorated this room overnight for her precious granddaughter, pouring her heart and love into every detail.

"Thank you, Grandma! Luoluo loves it so much!" Su Luo nodded eagerly like a little chick pecking rice, her clear, big eyes brimming with delight.

What greeted her was a romantic princess room, brimming with a dreamy, fairy-tale atmosphere and overflowing with girlish charm.

The room was filled with all kinds of exquisite, beautiful dolls, adding a warm and adorable touch.  In the center stood a pink princess bed, its canopy draped with strings of crystal beads that shimmered like flowing rainbows under the light.

Su Luo, like a curious little explorer, looked here and there, utterly enchanted by her new room.

"As long as Luoluo likes it, that's all that matters." Qin Shu smiled with tender warmth, her doting gaze following the little girl’s every move.

All the effort she and her two daughters-in-law had put into decorating felt worthwhile now, seeing the little girl’s sweet, joyful smile.

Owning her very own room for the first time, Su Luo felt as light and happy as a little bird. She padded barefoot on the plush, fluffy carpet, feeling as if she were walking on clouds, her whole being floating with delight.

After exploring every corner of the room, the little girl dashed back to Qin Shu, her little face flushed with excitement.

"Grandma, bend down."

"Alright, alright." Qin Shu replied indulgently, obediently crouching down.

"Luoluo loves the room, but she loves Grandma even more!" The little girl stood on tiptoe and planted a loud, smacking kiss (吧唧) on Qin Shu's cheek.

This was her way of expressing affection. She hadn’t even kissed Daddy yet – Grandma was the only one!

The little girl pursed her lips, smiling shyly as if feeling a bit embarrassed.

Qin Shu reached up and touched her cheek, her heart instantly bursting with joy, a radiant smile blooming on her face.

"Oh, my precious little darling, how can you be so adorable?" Qin Shu couldn't resist pulling the little girl into her arms and planting a firm kiss on her cute little cheek.

"Grandma," the little girl's voice was soft and sticky, sweet as glutinous rice cake, melting straight into Qin Shu's heart. "Don’t tell Daddy, okay? Luoluo only kissed you."
