Today felt windy.
It was already September, nearing the end of summer, but the humidity still clung heavily.
Yet, right now, I couldn’t feel that summer heat at all.
My hands… my whole body felt terribly cold.
"Asano, you okay?! Hey!"
"Huh? …Yeah."
Endo led me out of school.
Now, we were sitting side by side on a bench in a small park along the way home.
I’d been in a state of panic earlier, but now I’d snapped out of it.
Not so much calmed down as feeling… hollow inside. Was this emptiness?
"Sorry, Asano."
"Why… are you apologizing, Endo?"
Yeah, she hadn’t done anything wrong.
The one at fault… was me. Me, for being deluded without knowing Shiho’s true feelings.
"No, really… I’m sorry."
Endo apologized again anyway.
I could guess her reasons.
"Did you know? That Shiho… thought of me like that…"
"Yeah. I knew."
…I see.
That’s why she’d been trying to keep me away from Shiho.
"Now you get it, right? That girl… she’s incompatible with you."
"That’s not…"
