Thinking, "If I'm going to die anyway, I might as well save someone," Chihiro rescued the girl, sacrificing his own life.

However, in death, an angel appeared before him. The angel revealed that the reason for Chihiro's relentless bullying was a "Who Lives and Who Dies Game" set up by another angel, designed to make those close to the victim repulsive to them.
