Chapter 7: Reunion with the Sword Emperor

It was their umpteenth encore.

Diedrich, the Sword Emperor of Agatha, strained his voice and sang passionately.

"Ah, God♪ I, didn't, know, there, was, a, world, like, this, ~~~ ♪♪"

"「「「Quick, Quick, Quick, Woo♪」」」"

The Dragon Knights and the people of Agatha, as if they had become familiar with the Demon King's Praise Song No. 6 "Neighbor", were dancing along with the song.

"「「「Sword, Emperor!!」」」"

"「「「Woo-h!!!」」」"

Cheers echoed through the crowd, along with powerful punches. Their call and response were perfect.

"「「「Sword, Emperor!!」」」"

"「「「Dash-ya!!!」」」"

Diedrich strode to the front of the stage and raised his fist to the sky. He flashed a powerful smile.

"This is amazing."

"Sword, Emperor! Sword, Emperor!" Cheers praising Diedrich escaped the lips of the people of Agatha. Their expressions, their words, were genuine and heartfelt.

"He's so popular,"

Misha muttered.

"Hmm, he's quite the charismatic person. It seems the King of Agatha is deeply beloved by his people."

"They said Agatha is a country of knights, but is it a country of perverts? Because, the person clinging to the front row..."

Sasha pointed her finger. Dragon Knight Nate was spinning around and shouting.

"This is the knight's honor!!! Glory to King Diedrich!! Long live Diedrich! Long live! Woooh, hurray, Diedrich!"

"He's the hero who will save the country on the Day of Calamity..."

Sasha pressed her forehead with her hand, as if her head hurt.

"Diedrich, the Sword Emperor of Agatha, is a prophet. His prophecies have saved many lives and protected the happiness of the people. Agatha has grasped the best outcome out of many possible futures."

Arcana said.

"It could be considered an ideal country."

"This is ideal?! This!?"

Sasha shouted, but Arcana remained calm.

"Child of demons, it doesn't matter what you do. The king is beloved, and his people enjoy following him. That is one form of ideal."

"That might be true, but I don't understand..."

Sasha was looking at the stage with an unsatisfied expression.

"It's something to be envied. It seems he's a much better king than some Demon King who can only solve things with force."

Misha blinked rapidly.

"I'm sure Diedrich would feel the same way if he came to Dilhade."

"Really?"

Misha nodded clearly.

"Uh-huh."

She smiled gently. It seems she was trying to be considerate.

"People of Agatha!"

Diedrich shouted after the song ended.

"We had a lot of fun today. Let me introduce them again. From Dilhade, the country beyond that canopy, the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe and the students of the Demon King Academy have come all the way to Agatha."

Diedrich raised both hands as if introducing them, and the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe and the students bowed deeply.

"I've said "amazing" many times. What's amazing is, yes, the songs of the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe, they stir emotions far beyond my expectations."

Hmm, beyond expectations, you say. The prophet, who can see countless futures.

If that's true, it's no wonder he likes them. After all, Diedrich knows almost everything that can happen.

People's hearts are excited by unknown encounters. A life where everything is known is already equivalent to being over.

The man must have lived a terribly boring life.

"This song transcends prophecy. In the name of the Sword Emperor of Agatha, I want to bestow the title of "Dragon Songstress" upon the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe."

Applause echoed in agreement. Ellen and the others, while surprised, bowed deeply with a look of embarrassment.

"Let's all enjoy ourselves again with this Dragon Song."

Diedrich turned his back to the people, raised his hand, and walked off the stage.

"Mission complete. There was no threat here."

Dragon Knight Nate spoke in a stern voice and turned on his heel.

"This knight squadron will now return to the palace."

With a firm expression, his face was composed, without any flaws. He controlled his subordinates perfectly, not even allowing for a slight disruption in their march.

When he raised his hand, white dragons flew to him, and they mounted them and flew away to the palace.

"Let's go."

We started walking, heading towards Diedrich and the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe, who had walked off the stage.

The commotion around us hadn't died down, and the street was overflowing with people.

We pushed through the crowd, and Diedrich, as if waiting for me, looked at me. When I arrived, he smiled.

"Hello, Demon King. I'm sorry. I was just taking a peek at the Demon King's Sacred Song Troupe's practice, but I got a little excited and couldn't hold back. I called out to them and had a bit of fun."

"Well, it's good if you were satisfied. It was a gift for you, after all."

"That's great."

Diedrich laughed boisterously.

"Did you know we were coming to Agarofione and come out here on purpose?"

"Yeah. And I had some errands to run. I should have greeted you when you arrived at the palace."

"Well, even if you can see the future, you're still one person. There's no need to worry about it."

Then, Diedrich turned to me and bowed his head.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude for saving the lives of Ricardo, a member of my squadron, and Sylvia."

"It's fine. It was a gesture of apology to Ricardo and just a little side job."

Even if he could see the future, he couldn't cure Dragon Deficiency Disease or Senility Disease. Those are illnesses that cannot be cured naturally. Even if you try to limit them with Naphta's power, it would only delay the symptoms, a complete cure would be difficult.

Probably, that power wouldn't work unless Naphta was nearby. You can't just use a future god for patient treatment.

"As you already know, Diedrich. I've come to see the prophet of Agatha."

"You want to know about the Goddess of Absurdity, Genedonov, the most."

Diedrich looked at Arcana.

"Why can't the canopy, which has become an eternally imperishable divine body thanks to the Sword of the Almighty, Leviangilma, be returned to its original state? You came to Agatha to solve that."

"Whatever the reason behind it, I will get to the bottom of it. If you can see the future, then you should know the reason now."

"That's correct. But I can't tell you that now."

"Oh."

That's a rather surprising answer. Well, it's understandable.

"So, if I knew that, something bad would happen?"

"As for you, I don't need to say it. This is my business."

The Goddess of Absurdity, Arcana, is going to be involved with Agatha. Or maybe my future actions will affect the fate of this country.

"The same goes for your memories. You're a welcome guest, but I can't give you a prophecy right now."

"It's fine. If I don't know, and it leads to a better future, then that's better. Ultimately, it's just a matter of time, sooner or later."

"I don't know if it will be a better future for you."

He laughed at my words.

"I'll grab a better future within my reach, whatever happens. Then, it's better if it's a better future for Agatha as well."

Diedrich smiled, satisfied with my answer.

"Demon King, your words, even though you don't know the future, are refreshing."

"Thank you."

"Welcome. I have prepared a welcome event for you at the Sword Emperor's Palace. Take your time and relax."

"I'll take you up on that. I don't have much time to relax, though."

I shook hands firmly with Diedrich.

"About the Earthrain, I'll let you know when and where it will happen. There will be several that fall on Jiordal too."

Diedrich told me the time, place, and scale of the Earthrain via

"Is that okay? Jiordal is your enemy."

"Nah, it's fine. It's just a difference in belief, I don't think they should be destroyed."

I send the Earthrain information to Eldmed in Jiorhaze using . If it's that guy, it shouldn't take him long to transfer the information into the church.

Diedrich turned and walked towards the Sword Emperor's Palace. I walked beside him.

Then, he put his arm around my shoulder.

"Hey, Demon King. I'd like to spend some time with you guys, but we're both busy. So, I have a good suggestion."

"Oh? I'd like to hear it."

"Let's have a feast. How about a drink?"

I smiled slyly and opened my mouth.

"Just so you know, I have a bottomless stomach."

Diedrich nodded broadly.

"Nonsense. If you can't drink, you can't be the Sword Emperor. I'm quite the drinker myself. And my Dragon Knights are all heavy drinkers."

"Interesting. Sasha."

I said to her, who was walking behind me.

"Tell everyone. We're going to have a drink with the Knights of Agatha."

"Now? Right now? It's still broad daylight..."

Sasha looked at me with a dumbfounded expression, and I said casually.

"Did you think you can't drink just because it's broad daylight?"
