Chapter 15: Crocell, the 49th in Rank

“Did you call me?”

“Y-yes.”

White angel wings. A halo above her head.

She had all the characteristics of an angel, no matter how you look at it.

She even had a beautiful face and translucent white skin. She had a slightly youthful aura, but she was definitely beautiful.

But, why was an angel summoned?

The spellbook “Goetia” is supposed to summon demons.

“Do you worship your Lord?”

“Y-yes.”

I didn’t know much about the Lord, but I had a feeling that “yes” was the best answer.

“I see. You are a very good person.”

Crocell smiled.

It seems like “yes” was the right answer.

“Well, I was expelled from Heaven, you see.”

I felt a voice, laced with bitterness.

Huh?

She said she was expelled from Heaven.

“Why won’t the Lord forgive me? When will I be able to return to Heaven? I’ve repented so much, why won’t he forgive me? How much more do I need to atone for my sins? Was the Lord’s word to forgive sins a lie?”

She started muttering to herself!

“My, my, a fallen angel, isn’t it?”

Orobas said this.

A fallen angel.

An angel who was expelled from Heaven.

There are two types of fallen angels: those who fell of their own accord, rebelling against Heaven, and those who were expelled for their sins.

Based on Crocell’s words, she seems to be the latter.

I looked again at Crocell’s halo, and it was black and murky.

It seems that she is indeed a fallen angel.

“Uh, are you alright?”

I tried to talk to Crocell, who was still muttering to herself.

“The book you’re holding, is that ‘Goetia’?”

She asked me back, sounding bitter.

“Yes, but…”

“‘Goetia’ is a spellbook for summoning demons. So, that means you’re treating me like a demon. Ugh, what a terrible feeling.”

Fallen angels are considered a type of demon.

“Uh, I summoned Crocell because I have a request…”

I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere by listening to Crocell ramble, so I decided to interrupt.

“Request? Well, alright. Guiding lost sheep is an angel’s duty. Well, I’m a fallen angel now… ”

Her downer tone made me feel gloomy.

“Uh, I want you to teach me Water Magic.”

“Water… Water… UGHHHHH!!!”

I was startled.

Crocell suddenly screamed.

“Water, water, I was expelled from Heaven because of water…”

It seems like I hit a trauma trigger.

To be honest, I’m starting to dread talking to her.

But, I need to learn Water Magic. Giving up isn’t an option.

“Are you alright? If there’s anything I can help with, I’ll do my best.”

It seems like it’ll be difficult to learn Water Magic until her mental state stabilizes, so I asked that.

“You think you can save me?”

Crocell’s eyes were filled with sorrow.

What is this feeling? I’m getting a feeling that I can’t just leave this demon alone.

“Yes, leave it to me.”

Before I even realized it, I gently took Crocell’s hand.

“I’ll save you. So, when that’s done, teach me Water Magic, alright?”

I made sure to get a firm promise from her, that I would learn Water Magic.

“Yes, if my soul is saved, I’ll do anything for you.”

Alright, I got a promise from Crocell, so let’s do this. I’ll save this fallen angel.
