Chapter 14: Water Magic

“Alright, today we’ll study Water Magic.”

Mr. Rudon’s lecture began, as usual.

“Learning Water Magic will dramatically expand your magical abilities. So, everyone, be sure to take it seriously.”

“Teacher, wouldn’t this be irrelevant to people who haven’t even learned any magic?”

One of the younger students teased me again.

Then, the whole classroom burst into laughter.

They were clearly laughing at me.

It’s fine, I’ll surprise them all on the day of the duel. I’ll be patient for now.

But, Water Magic, huh?

The only magic I know is Fire Magic, including the spells I’ve learned.

I have Aim’s Sigil engraved on my left hand.

Summoning another demon and engraving a Sigil on my right hand might be a good idea.

If that’s the case, I need to summon a demon who can use water.

“Long time no see, Furcas.”

I returned home and immediately decided to summon Furcas, the 50th in rank.

The reason I summoned Furcas was to ask him which demon would be best for learning Water Magic.

I had asked Orobas the same question, but he doesn’t know much about other demons. He cried and apologized, saying, “I’m so sorry I can’t help you!! ”

So, I decided to summon Furcas.

He’s the best for advice.

“You… Norman… zzz.”

Furcas was snoring after he was summoned.

The current time is 7 pm.

It’s not yet 8 pm, when Furcas usually sleeps, but he seems sleepy already.

It’s probably bad for him, and I should probably dismiss him.

“Uh, Furcas, I was hoping you could recommend a demon who would be best for learning Water Magic.”

“If that’s the case, Cro… Crocell… zzz.”

He seemed to be at least semi-conscious, and managed to answer me.

Crocell, huh?

Alright, I need to dismiss Furcas quickly.

So, I chanted the Dismissal Spell.

I should try to summon him earlier next time.

“Now, let’s summon Crocell.”

The spellbook was arranged in order of rank, but it didn’t tell me Crocell’s rank, so I had to flip through it page by page.

“Ah, there it is. The 49th in rank, Crocell.”

Since Furcas is the 50th, this is one rank higher.

“Alright, Orobas. If he goes wild like Aim did, stop him.”

“Understood, Master, I will protect you with my life!”

Actually, if I can chant the Binding Spell quickly, I won’t need Orobas.

I need to practice so I can do it with a short incantation.

Alright, I’ll try chanting the summoning spell with a few omissions to see if it works.

“--I command thee in the name of Norman. Appear like a whirlwind, and show your form within the magical circle. Come here from anywhere in the world, and answer all my questions with reason. And appear in a peaceful form, without delay, and make my wish a reality. Come forth -- the 49th in rank, Crocell!”

The magical circle glowed.

Good, it seems to have worked as usual.

“Love thy neighbor. And worship thy Lord.”

A demon appeared, speaking these words.

“Huh?”

I was shocked.

This might be the demon that surprised me the most, by its appearance.

Because, standing before me was a figure that was undeniably an “angel”.
