"That Dimit is the worst!" my sister, Nene, exclaimed as she stepped into my house.
"Oh, really?" I chuckled.
Dimit, the adopted son who replaced me in the house, had been living there. While I didn't know all the details, the fact that Nene was complaining so much made it clear that Dimit was, indeed, terrible.
I spent the next while listening to Nene's complaints.
Apparently, this new family member, Dimit, was extremely selfish.
He seemed to be terrified of being underestimated because he used to be a commoner, so he constantly bullied the servants.
"He's been ordering the servants around. He uses them for his magic practice, saying it's entertainment. If he wants something, he makes them go shopping for him even in the middle of the night. He's also a picky eater and complains about every meal. And on top of that, he apparently harasses the pretty servants!"
"That's awful," I said.
"I can't believe father lets him get away with it. As a result, the servants come to me for advice. I can't do anything about it!"
"That sounds pretty tough."
Listening to my sister, I started to think maybe being kicked out wasn't such a bad thing after all.
Thanks to Orobas doing all the housework, I wasn't particularly inconvenienced despite living alone.
"You have to do something, brother…"
"There's nothing I can do, I've been kicked out. Besides, isn't it true that Dimit is really good at magic?"
"Yeah, apparently. He seems to have a unique magic too."
Unique magic is an original magic technique only usable by the individual. Having unique magic means you're considered a full-fledged magician. If someone my age already possesses unique magic, then they're undoubtedly talented.
"Still, this house is surprisingly clean inside, even though the outside is a bit run-down. This bed is so comfortable. I thought you'd be living in a messy room, considering you're my brother."
"Well, I have an acquaintance who's a cleaning expert, so they help me out."
"Hmm, I see."
Nene nodded, and Orobas, who had been praised, puffed up his chest with pride.
Of course, my sister can't see demons, so only I could see this.
"Nene, there's something I want to ask you."
"What is it?"
"I want to learn summoning."
"Summoning?"
My sister looked at me with a confused expression.
"Why would you want to learn summoning when you can't use magic? Are you trying to do anything by any means to win the duel? Isn't it in three days?"
"You knew about the duel?"
"Of course, Regal has been boasting about it at school."
So, Regal has been telling everyone about our duel, enough for my sister to know. He must really want to make me look like a fool in front of everyone.
"Yeah, I really want to learn summoning."
"And what good will it do you? You can't even use magic, so learning summoning won't be much help in a duel."
"Well, I really need to use it..."
I can't tell her about summoning demons. How do I explain it?
"Well, sometimes people who have trouble with natural magic have an affinity for summoning. I don't mind teaching you. Besides, if you learn magic, maybe you can get Dimit out of the house. Fine, I'll help you."
With that, my sister puffed out her chest.
She then said she needed some things for summoning, and she went back to the mansion to get them.
By the way, my house and the mansion are quite close, so going back and forth isn't difficult.
"Norman-sama, who is this Dimit person?"
As soon as my sister left, Crocelle immediately asked me. Orobas was also curious, his head tilted inquisitively.
Come to think of it, I hadn't told them about my situation. There was no point in hiding it, so I decided to tell them.
So I explained to both of them that I couldn't use magic and got kicked out of the house, and Dimit was adopted as the heir instead.
"What?! To kick out Norman-sama? That's so cruel!"
"Masteraaaaaaaaa! I had no idea you were going through such hardship. I'm so foolish!"
They both sympathized with me. Orobas's reaction seemed a little excessive.
"Master, I'm ready to attack that house right now if you command me!"
"No, Orobas! I'm not going to do that, and you're not going to do that either!"
What was he talking about, suddenly attacking?
Anyways, thanks to their anger, I didn't get too emotional about being kicked out.
