A wasteland... On this land, where the sun had begun to set and the scent of life was absent, a group of about ten humans had gathered. And there was one who looked down upon them from atop a small, high rock.
Koai, still mounted, stood on the high ground and watched the group of humans.
The humans seemed to be preparing to make camp for the night. Some were gathered around a bonfire, cooking. Others were taking embers from it to light watchfires. All of them moved about without hesitation.
Among them, there is likely a strong one... one who was guided by that voice.
If possible, I hope they are someone I can call an 'enemy'.
Thinking this, Koai muttered different words.
"O light, run as you please."
While suppressing her own magical power, making it weaker and weaker.
"O heat, speak as you desire."
So as to never bring them harm.
"As you wish, run and burn, 'Cat Fire (Kasha)'."
When she finished the incantation, a blue fireball formed in Koai's palm. It was about the size of a human head, and it transmitted intense heat even to Koai, its caster.
'Was my control still a little weak?' Koai reflected as she released the fireball at her feet. The fireball rolled gently along the ground, following gravity as it fell toward the lowlands ahead.
"Wh-what is that light?!"
A human's shout could be heard from the direction the fireball was heading. In response, the humans' gazes turned toward the fireball.
