"The Prester Company... has left..."
The lord muttered blankly, staring out the window.
"To think I was paying thirty gold coins (Oaths) every month to guarantee their priority deployment in an emergency..."
"Th-thirty coins..."
"Expensive, right? And that's not even including the various expenses and rewards for deployment... To think it was all for nothing."
"So, is there any other way? Any means for you to be saved now?"
Koai asked, a little exasperated, wondering if he was still not convinced.
The man didn't answer. Perhaps he couldn't.
"Now you can hand over the castle, along with all its treasures."
The man just gnashed his teeth. Seeing this, Koai plucked a single, unharmed finger from the man's hand, which was balled into a fist behind his back.
"...W-wait."
After a brief pause, the man's strained voice escaped. But she didn't wait for a reply from the man, who seemed to have realized something.
"Aaargh!"
The man's scream echoed as his finger was twisted and broken.
"Why don't you hurry up and decide?"
"Guh, ugh..."
Whether it was pain or attachment, it wasn't clear what was making the man groan... but at that moment, his attitude changed.
"You really won't take my life, as long as I don't defy you?"
"You're being tedious. I have no interest in your life."
