Koai looked out from the window of the castle keep, gazing at the town below and the forest road extending from the castle.
From here, I could probably pick off the troops coming through the forest road before they even reach the castle walls. If I know they're coming through that road, I can attack them one-sidedly and eliminate the threat.
It's almost as if this castle was made for me. If only I could spend my days here happily with her...
Koai's mind was adrift, lost in various thoughts, but when she happened to glance around, she saw the lord of the domain furtively trying to slip away.
"Stay put."
Koai commanded the blood rope.
"Guh..."
"How long until this so-called cavalry corps arrives?"
She grabbed the hair of the man, who was immobilized by the tightening around his throat, and roughly pulled him down toward the window.
"You won't answer?"
Seeing the man remain silent, Koai gave a command to the end of the blood rope.
"Igh!? Ts-!?"
The man felt a pain in the fingernails of his hands, which were tied behind his back, and let out a small cry.
"I have no intention of killing you if you're obedient. Shouldn't you be a little grateful for that?"
"Don't mess with me! You're probably just planning to use me as a hostage when the time comes, aren't you?"
"...I have no need for such things."
"I'll ask again. When is this cavalry corps coming?"
"I don't know the time!"
"Still not complying... How troublesome."
Koai sighed, moved behind the man, and pried one finger from his bound, clenched fist, lifting it up.
