Summary of the previous chapter
Koai once again encountered one of the 'Servants of God' in the streets of the fortress city of Tufkau.
The magical power emanating from the male 'Servant,' who claimed to have 'obtained the power of God,' filled Koai with a fierce sense of revulsion and rejection.
Following her heart, Koai struck the man with her ultimate magic, 'Light Wave'.
Koai was feeling a strong sense of fatigue. It was accompanied by an extremely intense feeling of exhaustion, the likes of which she had never experienced before.
The 'Light Wave' (Kouha) that shot from Koai's palm and struck the enemy possessed a color and thickness she didn't recognize, a heat and density not present in her memories.
This meant that the indescribable feelings of disgust and aversion swirling within Koai's heart had taken strong control of her mind.
A strong interference from her emotions. This was one of the merits of 'Light Wave,' but also one of its drawbacks.
A considerable amount of magical power must have been poured into it... To feel this tired after unleashing 'Light Wave' just once.
Perhaps due to her fatigue, Koai decided to wait and see for a while.
The black beam of light that had hit the man easily pierced even the stone wall Koai herself had created, flying far into the distance. If the man still had the will and strength to fight... he would likely show his face from the circular hole eventually, if she waited here.
She thought so, but more than anything, she found it too troublesome to move proactively.
Was this less due to the exhaustion from 'Light Wave' itself, and more from the lethargy it brought about?
As she watched for a little while, a force like scattered fragments blew in from the hole in the great wall.
It was similar to the dissipation of life and magical power from the woman who had died protecting this man... the one she had bathed in earlier. However, it was also clearly different, conveying a clinging, unpleasant sensation.
That man would probably die soon... at the very least, he had suffered a fatal wound.
That's what this sensation suggested.
But the fine, irritating... gnat-like annoyance dancing and flying about easily erased any sense of victory or accomplishment from his elimination.
This made Koai feel even more lethargic...
In the end, Koai remained motionless until the sun set.
The city of Tufkau welcomed the darkness of night. The city had already lost the bustle of human life, its lights extinguished, its form steeped in darkness...
