This place... seems different from the forest I know.
Upon entering the Great Forest south of the Tabris territory, Koai felt a sense of unease after taking just a few steps.
For several days leading up to her arrival at this forest, the southern sky had been cloudless... and she had been bathed in sunlight so dazzling it was almost blinding.
Therefore, it was safe to assume no rain or snow had fallen over the forest. And yet, the ground underfoot was soft, like a mire that had yet to dry.
To think a place like this, one I never knew of, existed.
I wouldn't go so far as to call it interesting, but I must be vigilant... and keenly aware of any changes in my surroundings.
In a place like this, there's no telling what might happen.
As long as I don't let down my guard, I probably won't fall into a fatal situation... but I should be extra cautious.
A few more steps, and with each one, she felt the dampness in the air she breathed grow stronger.
It was like the morning after a long, rainy night, when the dew clings clammily to everything.
Koai casually reached out and touched a nearby tree... its moss-covered trunk. A sticky moisture transferred to her hand, and the droplets that gathered in her palm dripped to the ground below, while some that didn't fall trickled from her wrist to her elbow.
Koai instinctively shook her hand hard to fling the water off.
