...Isn't this just an easy target for magic?

That was the immediate impression Coai had as she surveyed the area around the castle.

Whether it was a natural lake or a man-made moat, she couldn't tell, but water surrounded the castle, which was built on high ground. It was likely meant to prevent soldiers from reaching the castle, but as far as she could see, the distance from the water's edge to the castle was insufficient.

Indeed, it seemed to be a distance that ordinary bows couldn't reach. Against soldiers who didn't use magic, it would be an easily defensible structure.
In a ground assault, the multiple layers of walls would wear down the attackers, and even if all the walls were breached, they could deploy soldiers from a high vantage point. In an assault by water, they could counterattack whether the enemy was building rafts, rowing them, or attempting to land.

However, the distance was only enough that if a dozen or so average Suimazoku mages were gathered to combine their power, they could continuously hurl rocks and logs at the castle. The castle's height, in fact, only made it an easier target.
Even if the castle were equipped with catapults, the attackers would have the advantage in an exchange of fire.
Let alone, if it were me.

This castle would be easy to destroy. Easy, but doing so would mean losing the supplies likely stored within and the facilities likely equipped inside.
