As I am now, perhaps I could finally answer her...
No, I can. I can answer her... I have a feeling I can.
With that single-minded thought, Coai hurried toward her castle... toward home.
The path home, which should have been the same one she'd taken, looked completely different from her memory... Even the sparse vegetation seemed to have grown much more vibrant in color.
Sensing this vividness, she descended the mountain along the river, her steps light as she felt the trees growing denser.
Before long, the trees stood tall, forming a forest... and just like the rocky area near the waterfall, it all seemed strangely new to her.
It was likely... that the sense of accomplishment and anticipation in her heart was making the unchanging scenery appear that way.
This was something she herself wouldn't realize, something she might only notice if someone else pointed it out.
At the very least, the Coai of now was not the type to notice such things on her own.
She ran on and on, until she could see her destination, her home, Taras Castle, below... Just as it came into view, the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse.
In the blink of an eye, the blue sky was painted a dull, metallic gray... but even this seemed somehow pleasant to Coai.
Enjoying even this, she continued on, and eventually... the thick, somehow pleasant gray clouds began to drop raindrops.
Coai had never liked the rain.
Though different in shape and size, they were masses of water pouring down from a high place, just like the waterfall.
But these droplets, which were not permitted to touch her, were without a single exception... repelled by the force that enveloped Coai's body, falling to the ground.
The sound of the rain was all that reached Coai.
She didn't find it pleasant, exactly... but the sound of the rain didn't disturb her heart.
As long as she could meet her, the sound of the rain didn't matter at all.
