The red light in the sky gradually darkens, turning black.
As the man in the tavern had told her, Coai walked alone down the road stretching to the northeast.
Perhaps because many carts traveled this way, the road passing through the forest was wide and well-leveled.
If it was going to take several hours to walk a road like this, perhaps it would have been better to find a mount (Caval) and ride.
When she first set out, she walked on, thinking such thoughts. Her surroundings were quiet.
Had she walked about halfway? ...There was nothing to see but trees, grass, and dirt. What a boring place.
She was starting to want to go back to the mansion. It wasn't that she had anything in particular to do back there, but continuing to walk like this was simply a pain.
By the time walking had become a chore, she continued down the road with such thoughts. The sun had set, and it was dark all around, the sound of the wind rustling the leaves and branches echoing faintly.
How boring... In a place like this, she wouldn't smile.
But, if only I could be with her...
That's it. I'll walk while imagining she's right beside me.
