The summoning pentagram that had emitted a faint light around Snow... quietly lost its glow as her figure vanished.
Soon, both she and the pentagram had vanished without a trace.
Nothing remained on the floor where the pentagram had been.
Only a lingering affection for her was left in Coai's heart.
This time, too, she had returned to her own world safely.
That was good. As long as she was safe, that was for the best.
But... the wind blowing in from the window at sunset felt cold.
A coldness she hadn't felt just moments ago... when she was spending time with her.
The existence of the wind, which her presence had made her forget.
A coldness forgotten because of her warmth.
Though it shouldn't have been as cold as a draft on a blizzardy night, to the current Coai, it felt chilling.
In a way, perhaps that was something she had taught her.
In the past, before meeting Snow, Coai had never felt the cold wind as "chilly" or grown weary of it.
The cold wind and snow of midwinter, the freezing trees, earth, and stone, the metal armaments... all of them were simply "cold." She never thought of them as "chilly," and they weren't particularly unpleasant.
But to the Coai of now... the wind, which should have been warmed somewhat by the spring sunset, felt unbearably chilly.
After sending her back, Coai stood there motionless for a while. Then, a sudden feeling like she was freezing over came upon her, and she unconsciously took a few weak steps forward... before her legs gave out near the center of where the pentagram had been, and she collapsed, sitting alone on the bedroom floor.
