As I headed towards the inn I'd stayed at before, I recalled the way... pulling on the reins as I reached the corner where I needed to turn.
When there was no need to, my attention was focused solely on the portrait I'd taken from my pocket... on the smiling Snow within it.
Koai secured a room at the inn without any trouble, and after stabling her horse and cart, she went to her room for the time being.
It was a room spacious enough for two people to stay in without feeling cramped.
Normally, Koai would have been unable to resist the urge to summon Snow right away... but she had decided to spend a few days wandering the city alone.
By exposing herself to the people of the city, she intended to draw out anyone who might be targeting her.
If I recall correctly, I'd heard before that this city has something called a "Cathedral" that enshrines and praises the Goddess.
If that's the case, then unlike Delsu or Doit—the cities I've visited so far, which lacked such buildings—I can predict that this place is likely home to, or visited by, many people with devout faith in this so-called Goddess.
In a city like this, they might still be lurking.
The people from the church's assassination squad, or whatever they were, who attacked me when I visited this area before.
They weren't particularly powerful, but they are a nuisance.
Besides, if they were to target her instead of me... I can't say I'd be completely without worry.
I haven't been attacked within this city yet... but there's no guarantee it will be the same this time.
I want to avoid any harm coming to her as much as possible.
Though, of course, I would protect her if it came to that.
